Go to the movies 

Did you know students get discounts at cinemas in Enschede? The city boasts three cinemas: Kinepolis at Go Planet Parc near the University of Twente campus, the city cinema VUE Cinema near H.J. van Heekplein. With nine screens and super comfy Deluxe relaxing seats, it is the perfect night out. You'll also find the art-house cinema Concordia on the Oude Markt. At all three cinemas, students get a discount on their movie tickets, so don't forget to bring your student ID. Are you a University of Twente student? The Student Union often runs special promotions on cinema tickets. Or check with your study or student association, they might have discounted tickets too! 

My tip? Make your movie night complete with dinner or a daily special (maybe with a CineMenu) or grab a drink at the Oude Markt. 

Challenge your friends

Enschede is packed with fun activities for students. Challenge your housemates, friends, year club, study group or society buddies to a game of snooker or pool in the city centre. Or hop on your bike (or take the bus or train with your student travel card) to Go Planet Parc. There, you can do way more than just catch a movie, go ice skating, diving, bowling, wok dining, glow golfing, karting or laser tagging. The options are endless, and so is the fun! 

Are you great at solving puzzles, cracking riddles or acing quizzes? Then test your brainpower in one of the many escape rooms and try to break out with your friends. My favourite activity? Join a pub quiz! Several cafés in Enschede host them every week. It's a win-win: a super fun evening packed with laughter and you oftern learn something along the way.

For the sporty types

Between studying and going out, working out might sometimes fall off your schedule. But no worries, Enschede is full of sporty and adventurous activities to get you moving. Whether you're into indoor or outdoor fun, there's plenty to do for an hour, an evening or a whole day of action and good vibes. 

How about an outdoor adventure at Het Rutbeek? This recreational park isn't just for sunbathing and swimming. Did you know there's also a climbing forest? Or that you can go water skiing, paintballing or take on a survial course? You can even join a group challenge inspired by Expedition Robinson (though sadly without the tropical island vibes). Love winter sports? Het Rutbeek also has its own skicenter, where you can learn to ski or snowboard all year round. Or whizz down the tube slide!

Soak up some culture 

Days and evenings spent with your nose in the books or with a beer in your hand might get a little boring once in a while. If you are ready for a more intellectual activity, Enschede is the place to be. Our artistic city is bursting with creativity and culture. For example, visit a theater performance at one of the theaters in town, get carried away by the most beautiful or funniest music at the various venues or explore the museums.

Student discounts! 

Yes, you can also get a discount at several cultural institutions with your student card or CJP culture card. At Rijksmuseum Twenthe and Museumfabriek you even get free entrance with your student card. So there's really nothing stopping you from taking in some culture!

There is always something going on in Enschede. Did you know that more than 60 major events are held in Enschede every year? Most events take place on the Oude Markt, in the city center, on the campus of the University of Twente or in the immediate vicinity of Enschede. Several festivals are also held every year. Enschede has also frequently been the organizing city for major national events, such as the TMF Awards, Serious Request, The Passion and the Women's European Championship 2017.

Discover the nightlife

During your student years, you’ll probably get to know plenty of nightlife spots. Enschede is the perfect place to have fun late into the night (or even early morning). As a true student city, there’s always somewhere to party!

Love to dance? Then, Aspen Valley (18+) or Paddy’s (21+) are the places to be! Or jump onto the dance floor at RGB Silent Disco, guaranteed fun. Love pubs? Then The Old Irish Pub is the place to be.

Enschede is also home to lots of cosy pubs and vibrant cafés, many of which offer great student deals. Most of the action happens on and around the Oude Markt, but did you know that Stanislaus Brewskovitch has a hidden beer garden where they regularly throw parties? Or head to the club at Holland Casino on a Saturday night and get ready for a thrilling evening full of games, music, cocktails, and good vibes.
