Celebrating a vibrant city
For an entire year, we celebrated Enschede’s 700th anniversary. Is Enschede exactly 700 years old? Not quite. The history of Enschede goes back to the Middle Ages. What we celebrated was the moment Enschede was granted city rights in 1325 a major milestone. A lot has happened over the past 700 years. From wars and a devastating city fire to the rise of the textile industry. Today, Enschede is a vibrant, multicultural city.
Together with all the people of Enschede, we put up the decorations in 2025. The celebration was a tribute to our beloved city. There was room for creative ideas and initiatives from all residents of Enschede. We celebrated the diversity of our city. A wonderful year for a city full of connection.
