The modern architecture in Roombeek contributes to the overall feeling of inspiration as well.
The story of Roombeek
The neighborhood Roombeek was swept away by a fireworks disaster on 13 May 2000. 23 people died, more than 1,000 residents were injured and 42.5 hectare city was destroyed. In the past years, the whole of Roombeek was rebuilt beautifully. Now it is a place where people enjoy art and culture in a green environment. Visit one of the museums or an art gallery, join a guide on a tour through the neighborhood and learn everything there is to know about this phoenix-like quarter of Enschede.
Visit Rijksmuseum Twenthe for a peek into the richest art collection of the Eastern Netherlands. Each exhibition learns us more about the past or the present, often in a mix of Dutch masters and thrilling modern artworks.
De Museumfabriek is a lovely place for everyone who is young at heart. All exhibitions center around the way nature, culture, science and technology are connected. Learning through experiments is key at De Museumfabriek.
Art gallery TETEM is unique in that it puts media art on pedestal. Their exhibitions are always related to topical themes in society. Trends in media art are shown through interactive installations, video, light and sound. Alongside the exhibitions, an elaborate program helps visitors to put everything into a social context.
