Beeld & Aambeeld
During six exhibitions each year work of professional artists is shown, preferably in combination of plastic arts and jewellery design. Furthermore, the gallery has an extensive stock of paintings, mixed media, graphic art and – last but not least – jewellery.
Since 1979 gallery Beeld & Aambeeld (located in the Walstraat in Enschede) has organized exhibitions of 'art on the wall' as well as 'jewellery in showcases'.
The gallery regularly initiates or participates in large-scale projects and organizes in other locations, at home and abroad. Private persons as well as business may call on the gallery for advice on collecting and restoration, business gifts, the framing and hanging of pictures. The gallery has a pool of eighty artists of both disciplines, at home and abroad, most of whom have regular exhibitions in gallery Beeld & Aambeeld.
In the work of the plastic artists the emphasis lies on lyrical-abstract and abstract-expressionist contemporary art. Most of the artists use mixed media, but 'pure' painting is also represented as well as sculpture, drawing and graphic art. The designs of the jewellery makers are representative of the true art of the goldsmith’s trade: contemporary, most unusual designs, executed in precious metals or combinations of precious and base metals.
Once a year the gallery organizes an exhibition entirely devoted to jewellery in order to bring this art to the special attention of the public. By now the month of December has become our traditional month-of-the-jewellery.
