Tetem Café
A unique concept store inside Tetem.
In the lobby of Tetem, you will find the Café, a versatile concept store focused on sustainability and technology. The Tetem Café is a blend of a concept store with sustainable gifts, a meeting place, a workspace, a vegetarian juice and coffee bar, the Nivo hair salon, and the LEAFDE Plant Asylum.
The Tetem Café is part of a versatile concept store focused on sustainability and technology. You can buy sustainably produced and innovative gifts and enjoy a tasty vegetarian lunch or a good coffee with a delicious cake. In the workspace you can work in an inspiring environment and meet creative colleagues. You can bring or pick up an 'orphan plant' and have your hair cut at one of the hairdressers. Power Noord also offers reading and language courses for local residents. Tetem Café is a multifunctional space and a place where different target groups can meet each other!
Tetem wants to contribute to a world that is sustainable, inclusive and caring. Something must change in our diet if the earth is not to become exhausted and if the world is to survive in the future. We believe it is important to respect not only the rights of people, but also those of animals. The catering industry is therefore all about tasty, healthy and sustainable; from fair trade coffee and tea to tasty vegetarian and vegan lunch dishes!
In addition to caring for the world, we also want to start a conversation about Fair Care, caring for each other and for yourself. LEAFDE focuses on 'the right of the plant' and Ton Nieuwenhuis investigates how the narrative of plants can be used to tell the human story. Plants are given shelter, care and space to tell their own story - history. The Plant Shelter tells the story of plants, but also the story of the people in the lives of the plants. In this way we try to discuss certain complicated themes such as inclusivity, right to exist, multiple perspectives and ownership in an accessible manner.
Everyone is welcome in Tetem Café! We offer visitors, local residents, students and professionals the space to get in touch with each other, engage in conversation and work (together) in a nice place. Tetem Café is directly connected to all activities and programs within Tetem. Of course with our interactive exhibitions, which touch on current topics and themes in society. In addition, with Tetem's Lab, which consists of the MaakMeeLab for families, neighborhood children and interested parties and the FabLab where professionals and students work on developing and broadening their skills. Then there is the Projectspace, where Tetem works together with makers and educational institutions from the region on exhibitions, productions and projects. Finally, there is the Living Room, which is used by local residents for language and computer lessons and meetings.
