What language is spoken in Enschede?
Locals mainly speak Dutch, their mother tongue. Furthermore, most Dutch people will have no problem whatsoever understanding and speaking English. Also, because of the proximity of the German border, quite a few people in Enschede speak a bit German as well.
Where can I find public toilets in the city center?
There are several public toilets in the city center. There are toilets in the Van Heek garage (take the stairs on the square, you will find the toilets on your left), in the indoor shopping center De Klanderij (next to the Flying Tiger), at Hema and in the Koningsplein shopping center (inside next to the Decathlon) .
Where can I hire a bicycle?

Where can I park the car?
You can park the car at any of the indoor car parks in the city centre. Click here for an overview of all the nearby parking areas.
In addition, you can leave your car at the P&R car park at the Zuiderval (address: Spaansland 20, 7543 BG Enschede). With the parking ticket, you can take the bus to the city centre for free. An alternative P&R car park is located at Parkweg (address: Parkweg 37-39, 7513 AR Enschede).
Larger vehicles and buses can be left at Wilminktheater (address: Wenninkgaarde 40-42, 7511 PH Enschede). Take into consideration that the amount of parking space here is limited. A second option is to park at the Performance Factory (address: Hoge Bothofstraat 49, 7511 ZA).

The best way to get around Enschede is by bike. Most students purchase one through Marktplaats or rent at Swapfiets. When you subscribe to Swapfiets you pay monthly, including repairs and maintenance costs of the bicycle. The subscription can be cancelled monthly.

Where can I park for free?
You can park for free outside the city ring roads, or on the street after 11:00 PM (Zone 1) and after 7:00 PM (Zones 2 to 8). It’s also possible to park for free at Go Planet Parc. From there, you can easily take a bus or train to the city centre. Please note: Paid parking applies to all parking facilities in the city centre.

How do I get from station Enschede to the city centre?
Enschede station is well connected to the public transport network and just a short walk from the city centre. As soon as you exit the station, you'll arrive at stationsplein. From there, it's just a short stroll straight into the heart of the city.
Can I charge my e-bike in the city centre?
You can charge your e-bike at the supervised bike parkings under H.J. van Heekplein and Wilminkplein.
Does Enschede have a citycard?

Where can I find public toilets downtown?
There are several public toilets in the downtown area. There are toilets in the Van Heek garage (take the stairs on the square, then you will find the toilets on your left), in the indoor shopping center De Klanderij (next to the Flying Tiger), at Hema and in shopping center Koningsplein (inside next to the Decathlon). There are also public toilets at De Heurne with disabled toilet, family toilet and breastfeeding and pumping area. Here you will also find free taps for drinking water.
